This describes some special things about the package auctex-10.0g-alt2.
The script that loads AUC TeX is put into /etrc/emacs/site-start.d/. If
the files in that directory are not read by Emacs on start, then a user
should load them inn his ~/.emacs.
The two customizations mentioned in INSTALLATION that you don't usually
have to do with AUCTeX from this package:
1. In most cases, you don't have to set the "user option" `TeX-macro-global'
as told in INSTALLATION -- it defaults to /usr/share/texmf/ -- the
directory that is used by ALT's tetex package.
2. The value of the variable `TeX-printer-list' is computed every time
a user starts Emacs (loads AUC TeX). And it is the list of printers
shown by lpstat (should work with CUPS). If you wish to change this
behaviour -- follow the instructions in INSTALLATION.
One more difference in settings: the path for the place where generated
data is stored leads now into /var/lib/emacs/...
The default setting for TeX-master is not hte same as in author's AUCTeX
distribution: in our package, it is such that the user is queried for the
name of the master file if the edited file doesn't seem to be one (i.e. doesn't
contain \documewntclass &c.).
